Some people have asked about Blinker's name. He was named the first time we saw him, at the 7-week ultrasound. We weren't sure how much of him we would be able to see, but as soon as the ultrasound tech got the monitor on him, she said, "We have a blinker!" (referring to his heartbeat) -- and we saw his heart pulsing strongly in his tiny body. Ever since then, he's been Blinker.
Since we're not going to find out his gender before he's born, he will remain Blinker until we meet him face-to-face; then he'll get a permanent name.
The 7-week fetus looks like this - in fact, you can't see much but the heartbeat. (This is not our Blinker.)
