Recently one of my friends pondered how one knows when one is pregnant. My friend had heard of my salty, starchy, creamy food cravings (like for mac & cheese, pictured) and was concerned about sharing the same cravings. In the friend's case, I think the pregnancy quip was a joke, since this friend is a man. But this got me to thinking: what are some good non-scientific tests for pregnancy? Ask yourself the following questions -- if your answer "yes" to several of them, you too may be pregnant.- Are you constantly thirsty?
- Not coincidentally, do you wake up to pee at least 2x each night?
- Despite your water chugging, do you have lizard-like dry skin?
- After 4 a.m. bathroom breaks, is it impossible to fall back asleep because you're obsessing over minutiae (like which papers you've graded and which ones you still need to grade?)
- Does the sight of normally minor household annoyances (like a couple ants, or unwashed dishes) make you cry uncontrollably and feel like the household is spinning out of control?
- Do you need to eat constantly, yet feel like you could puke at any moment, for any reason?
- Do you order things at restaurants that sound delicious when you look at the menu, then seem repulsive and inedible by the time they arrive 10 minutes later ?
- Has your cup size increased exponentially? (Results may vary for male and female respondents, and the "cup" in question.)
Am I missing anything?
