Wyatt is still not on board with the whole "Baby" thing, and seems underwhelmed with this idea of being a Big Brother, though he does like the idea of getting presents and going on field trips with various aunts, uncles, and grandparents. He is changing every day, in surprising ways, such as ....
- Lying. Recently I put him in "Time Out" on the stairs, for some reason or another. When his dad came in and asked why he was in Time Out, he put on a very serious face and said, "Mama hurt me." (Err, so why would he be in Time Out for that?) He also is adept at claiming that he hasn't had any cookies yet today.
- Potty training. It's done! He pees and poops successfully and copiously! (We haven't tried night-training yet though.) In fact, the issue now is too much pooping, which is not only unsavory for the person who has to clean the potty but also makes me worry that he will herniate from pushing too much. Hopefully he won't regress too much when Baby arrives.
- Animal abuse. Wyatt sees the 2 cats as live stuffed animals who exist to be yanked, pulled, and squished. We have tried a variety of solutions to this problem -- modeling good behavior towards the cats, more Time Out for cat abuse, fawning over "Baby Leo!!!" when Wyatt pulls on him, etc -- but hasn't had much effect so far. I really wish the cats would just fight back -- they both have their claws -- but they haven't. At the very least, Lily has started avoiding Wyatt somewhat. She is not the smarter of the 2 cats, but she is less lazy, which is the important factor here.
We're mostly settled into the new house, and Wyatt loves the increased amount of space he has to play in, including his side yard. He also loves the 4 neighbor kids, who are 2-8 years old, and have adopted him into their herd. More about this later.
