Blog: Resurrection

Apologies for the longer-than-expected-even-from-me wait for this post. I'll skip the excuses and say that, after seeing old franchises like Alien and even Dallas
resurrected, I am inspired to revive this not-quite-defunct blog. In the time since the last missive, our gentle, good-natured baby has transmogrified into a willful, volatile, opinionated little toddler. Sample exchanges with him might go like this:

(Me, entering his room) Good morning, Wyatt!
(He) No, Mama! (Arms flail)

We know it's all par for the course, and that the Terrible Twos begin anywhere in the 2nd year of life, but some days are even more full of sudden tearful outbursts than we'd anticipated.

As Wyatt works to assert himself, he's becoming a real little person. He is adept at using whole sentences, often to boss around his parents or pets ("Up, mama! Want to go outside" "Out, Leo! Bad cat bad cat bad cat!!!" -- yes, we know where he learned that). He also is becoming more self-aware, sometimes declaring "I pooped!" when he needs a diaper change. And he's becoming aware of the powers of suggestion and persuasion -- at snacktime, when offered healthful cheese or fruits, he will cock his head to one side, bat his eyes and say, "Cookie? Coooookie?"

Physically, he's running, climbing, eating with a fork (somewhat), brushing his teeth (somewhat), stacking blocks, pushing his own stroller, and more. Every day is an adventure, for him and for us.
